IAP2 Way in Challenging Contexts

  • In person: Ottawa, Ontario - October 7, 2024 (7 hours), $425. Deadline to register is end of day Sept. 12.

This course sets out the underpinning models and frameworks of public participation and engagement practice as defined by the IAP2 community. Specifically in terms of what it is, who is involved, standards of practice, and why it is important to be practiced ethically and effectively. Participants will explore these concepts and models in contexts that are challenging and will gain skills and knowledge to apply to their work.

IAP2 Way in Challenging Contexts and Designing Public Participation & Engagement with Amelia Shaw, IAP2 Canada

This learning program consists of 2 of the 3 courses necessary to obtain the IAP2 Certificate in Public Participation.

IAP2 Way in Challenging Contexts covers the fundamental models and frameworks of public participation and engagement practice as defined by the IAP2 community. Specifically in terms of what it is, who is involved, standards of practice, and why it is important to be practiced ethically and effectively.

In Designing Public Participation & Engagement, practitioners have the opportunity to develop public participation and engagement practice plans. This includes scoping, community mapping, determining purpose and objectives and levels of influence, choosing appropriate methods and managing resources, while considering the needs of diverse audiences.

  • In person: Ottawa, Ontario - October 7-9, 2024 (7 hours + 14 hours), $1275. Deadline to register is end of day Sept. 12.


Designing Public Participation & Engagement

Designing public participation and engagement IAP2 course and Victoria and Amelia Shaw
  • In person: Ottawa, Ontario - October 8-9, 2024 (14 hours), $850. Deadline to register is end of day Sept. 12.

In this course, practitioners have the opportunity to develop public participation and engagement practice plans. IAP2 Applying Methods

Applying Methods course with Amelia Shaw, IAP2 Canada
  • In person: Ottawa, Ontario - October 10-11, 2024 (14 hours), $850. Deadline to register is end of day Sept. 12.

The focus of this course is on exploring a variety of methods used in implementing public participation and engagement. Participants will learn to select, assess and create effective elements of methods to work meaningfully with participants.
